General Information

The Erasmus International Credit Mobility (ICM) Program - also known as KA-107 or KA-171- is open to students from all around the World extending beyond European Union, allowing them to have the exchange program opportunity from and to other parts of the World.  The countries that are completely participating in the Erasmus program are known as program countries. Turkey is one of the 33 countries participating in the program. Outside of the European Union, Partner Countries comprise the rest of the world.

Since 2016, Yildiz Technical University has been successful in receiving funds to cover students and staff exchanges in partner countries.

The following are the program's key objectives:

  • To provide students and young researchers from partner countries institutions with research and study development opportunities.

  • To increase knowledge and research skills on a long-term basis.

  • To strengthen transnational academic collaboration by forging and deepening long-term relationships between YTU and our partner universities.

  • To promote mutual enrichment and understanding by improving participants' linguistic and cultural abilities.

All mobility activities under the Erasmus Program are contingent on the signing of an inter-institutional agreement between the sending and receiving institutions prior to the commencement of the mobility.

Conditions

To study at YTU in the framework of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA-107 or KA-171), there needs to be an inter-institutional agreement between home and the host university in the relevant department.

Accordingly, the student, first, apply to their home university according to the conditions, quota and other requirements stated by Yildiz Technical University and their own regulations by not violating the Erasmus Charter principles, which are

“Respect in full the principles of non-discrimination and to promote and ensure equal access and opportunities to mobile participants from all backgrounds, in particular disadvantaged or vulnerable groups; apply a selection process that is fair, transparent and documented, ensuring equal opportunities to participants eligible for mobility."

Each year quota and requirements may change depending on the conditions of the relevant academic year and project circumstances.

Application requirements (to be clearly defined in the call of relevant project year):

  • to be a full time student at the higher education institution

  • to have a minimum score of GPA

  • to have sufficient English proficiency

  • to be able to register for 25-35 ECTS for each term that the student is mobile

  • not to have previously spent more than 12 months per study cycle

Duration

The study period abroad can last from a minimum of 3 months (or 1 academic term or trimester) to a maximum of 12 months.

A student can benefit of Erasmus+ program multiple times, with either a study mobility or a traineeship mobility, but the total time abroad (study abroad periods included) may not exceed 12 months within one cycle of study.

“Cycle" refers to the level of study as defined by the European Qualifications Framework (EQF):

  • First cycle (Bachelor or equivalent) EQF – 5/6

  • Second cycle (Master or equivalent) EQF 7

  • Third cycle (Doctoral or equivalent) EQF 8

Financial Support
