Useful Information
VISA
 
Before the application and admission, all students are advised to examine the visa procedures specific to their country to enter Turkey. The necessary information can be found here. 
 
It is an individual responsibility of each student to learn about and collect/submit necessary documents for visa. Yıldız Technical University cannot provide council on visa since more accurate and complete information is available at Embassies; however, any required document for visa application may be provided, if requested by the Embassy or the student.
 
For those incoming students who require a visa to enter Turkey should apply to the nearest Turkish Consulate/Embassy with the necessary documents. The Embassies and Consulates list can be found here.
 
RESIDENCE PERMIT
 
Regardless of the visa status (student/no visa), all incoming students must apply online for a Residence Permit within one month of arrival to Turkey.

ACCOMMODATION 
 
While Yıldız Technical University has no dormitories of its own for the use of international students, there are a number of private hotels and hostels in the district around the campus which can provide economical accommodation.
 

We also suggest you contacting our ESN. They may offer you options and help with your accomodation and other issues you may have during your stay. Please get detailed information here. You can fill the contact information boxes here after it is decided that you are coming to Turkey as an exchange student. ESN also assigns you an Erasmus buddy who can help you during your stay. 

EURO BANK ACCOUNT HERE IN TURKEY

Your grant is paid after you arrive in Turkey. 

Please follow the procedure below:

  1. To start your bank account procedure, first you need to go to Fatih Vergi Dairesi ( Fatih Tax Office) and get a tax number. Tax Office Address: Akşemsettin, Adnan Menderes Blv. No:56, 34080 Fatih/İstanbul
  2. To get to the Tax Office, you can take M1 Metro Line and get off at Emniyet-Fatih station. Right after you get out the station, you will see the Tax Office right in front of you. Please do not hesitate to ask someone. You can also get help from your assigned Erasmus buddy. 
  3. After you get your tax number, you will visit Ziraat Bank branch in Davutpaşa Kampüs and provide yor passport and tax number and open a Euro account. Please make sure you open a Euro accoun, because your grant will be paid in Euros.
  4. At the end of the procedure, the bank clerk will provide you a bank account document which is a little booklet including your IBAN and account number. Make sure your name is written correctly as in your passport. Please keep the bank papers carefully with you. 

​HEALTH INSURANCE

Yıldız Technical University does not automatically provide incoming students with insurance cover. Students must have health insurance of their own which is valid in Turkey. Insurance is a must for your residence permit application as well.
